Mets starter Clay Holmes said "It definitely felt good," after shutting down the Marlins and he credited pitching from both sides of the rubber, which Holmes feels can confuse the opposition. Alonso meanwhile continued  his career-long assault on Marlins pitching, ripping an RBI double in the first inning and solo bast in the third.

In addition to a terrible loss to the Marlins, the Mets lost one of their hottest hitters in September, Brett Baty, to an oblique that will probably sideline him for the final two games of the regular season. Baty discussed the injury and how he will do everything in his power to play.
