On Saturday, every level of the Mets organization was on the move. Jose Siri continued his rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse with a home run. HIs promising young teammate Ryan Clifford, homered, doubled and drove in three runs. Down in Single-A St. Lucie, the Mets 2025 top draft pick Mitch Voit, had a single, two walks, three stolen bases and an RBI in a 14-3 rout of Ft. Myers.

For Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, there were still some positives in Jonah Tong's loss Saturday night, especially his ability to make adjustments after allowing three home runs to the Reds. Tong managed to grind out six innings, finishing his outing with six Ks. Tong feels he needs to do a better job of being unpredictable and mixing in his off-speed pitches.

It was a rough second MLB start for Mets rookie Jonah Tong, as he surrendered three home runs in the Mets 6-3 loss to the Reds. New York had opportunities to cut into the deficit but went just 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Mets closer Edwin Diaz detailed his "eventful" ninth inning that saw him pitch his way out of the ultimate jam: bases loaded, nobody out. Adding to the drama were his faulty cleats, which seemed to affect his delivery. Bullpen mate Ryne Stanek, who pitched his way out of trouble earlier in the game himself, called Diaz "Houdini" and "incredible" for his magic act. Mark Vientos, who homered and drove in two runs, was glad Diaz got out of the "sticky situation."

Mets manager Calos Mendoza says he had never seen a pitcher have to change his cleats in the ninth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out. Diaz struck out two batters after changing his footwear before alertly covering first base for the final out. Mendoza offered, "that's what makes him who he is."

Thanks to a home run and a pair of RBI from Mark Vientos, the Mets jumped out to a 5-1 lead but the Reds fought back to pull within a run. Edwin Diaz escaped a bases loaded, no-out jam in the ninth inning as they hung on for the 5-4 win.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone called the 6-3 loss to the Red Sox, "not a clean game by us." The Yanks made four errors and the pitching staff walked nine batters on a night to forget for the home team. Starter Luis Gil who continues to work his way back to full strength, held Boston to two runs but the bullpen failed to keep things close.
