Mets starter Clay Holmes opted to use his entire pitching arsenal rather than rely on his sinker and delivered 6.1 quality innings in New York's 9-2 win. Holmes praised veteran Starling Marte for throwing out a runner at the plate to help him get out of a jam. Marte said it "felt good" to help the team and get Holmes out of the inning. Jeff McNeil unloaded a pair of home runs including all-important three-run shot with two out to give the Mets an early lead. His sore shoulder is improving and McNeil experienced no discomfort while swinging the bat.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza says the whole team is taking "good at-bats" and the result was a 9-2 pummeling of the Braves. Mendoza also pointed how well Starling Marte is playing, both offensively and defensively. The manager, who called on his starting rotation to provide some length and take pressure off the bullpen, got a strong 6.1 innings from Clay Holmes.

The Mets unleashed a six-homer barrage on Saturday night, two apiece by Jeff McNeil and Mark Vientos as they routed the Braves 9-2. The run support was more than enough for starter Clay Holmes to earn his 11th win of the season.
