For Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, Pete Alonso's game-winning home run on Sunday to put the brakes on an eight-game losing streak brought a sense of relief as much as anything. "Not gonna lie, we needed that one." Mendoza praised rookie Nolan McLean for his six shutout innings and Ryne Stanek who escaped a jam in the top of the 10th inning, setting the stage for Alonso's heroics.
