Mets starter Clay Holmes opted to use his entire pitching arsenal rather than rely on his sinker and delivered 6.1 quality innings in New York's 9-2 win. Holmes praised veteran Starling Marte for throwing out a runner at the plate to help him get out of a jam. Marte said it "felt good" to help the team and get Holmes out of the inning. Jeff McNeil unloaded a pair of home runs including all-important three-run shot with two out to give the Mets an early lead. His sore shoulder is improving and McNeil experienced no discomfort while swinging the bat.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza says the whole team is taking "good at-bats" and the result was a 9-2 pummeling of the Braves. Mendoza also pointed how well Starling Marte is playing, both offensively and defensively. The manager, who called on his starting rotation to provide some length and take pressure off the bullpen, got a strong 6.1 innings from Clay Holmes.

The Mets unleashed a six-homer barrage on Saturday night, two apiece by Jeff McNeil and Mark Vientos as they routed the Braves 9-2. The run support was more than enough for starter Clay Holmes to earn his 11th win of the season.

Top Mets pitching prospect Jonah Tong continues to dominate after his promotion to Triple-A Syracuse. Tong struck out eight batters over six innings, not allowing a run and only five hits against Indianapolis on Saturday night.

In his second MLB start, with friends and family in attendance, Nolan McLean threw another gem for the Mets. Seven innings, four hits, two runs and seven Ks. Brett Baty provided plenty of offensive support with a four-hit night, part of a 21-hit Mets attack in a 12-7 win.

Tylor Megill continued his strong stretch of rehab starts with a one-hit, four strikeout performance over five innings. His young Syracuse  teammate Ryan Clifford belted his first two Triple-A homeruns, both to the opposite field. Double-A Binghamton right hander Jack Wenninger improved his record to 11-6, delivering seven punch outs over 6.1 innings.

Judge acknowledged, "that's a good team over there but we have to play better."

Yankees manager Aaron Boone called the 6-3 loss to the Red Sox, "not a clean game by us." The Yanks made four errors and the pitching staff walked nine batters on a night to forget for the home team. Starter Luis Gil who continues to work his way back to full strength, held Boston to two runs but the bullpen failed to keep things close.
