Six things to know about Wednesday's game...

1) Noah Syndergaard had a decent outing for the Mets in this one. He allowed four runs on five hits over seven innings of work with seven strikeouts and no walks. Most of Syndergaard's runs allowed came in the eighth, as Mickey Callaway sent him back out for the inning. He allowed an RBI double and then an RBI triple which forced him out of the game. Despite those mistakes, his fastball was working around 98-99 all night long with top outs at 100.

2) The most bizarre inning came in the bottom of the fifth, as the Twins had the Mets waltz around the bases to both the game open. Six walks and a hit by pitch to Brandon Nimmo ended up in four runs coming across. Then, Wilson Ramos hit a bases-loaded, two RBI single to truly blow the game open with a 6-1 lead.

3) Pete Alonso continued to make MLB history tonight, as his 15th RBI in 11 career games became a league record. And that RBI came on a fifth-inning walk, as he went 0-for-2 with two walks on the night.

4) Despite a miscue on the base paths in the fifth, Jeff McNeil had a solid day at the plate. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as he continues to hit with consistency.

5) Michael Conforto's bat stayed hot, with a 1-for-3 night with three RBI. One of those RBIs came in the walk-happy fifth, but he had a two RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as well.

6) Edwin Diaz allowed his first run of the season, a solo homer to Mitch Garver in the bottom of the ninth.

What's Next

The Mets head south to face the division-rival Braves in their first meeting of the season. It will be Steven Matz getting the start against Kevin Gausman to kick off the four-game series at 7:20 p.m.
